One of the more common causes of panic attacks is fears that have been learned by the brain through traumatic events. These fears have a way of stamping the brain, which lead to the anxiety and symptoms that follow. These memories can trigger severe anxiety when the person is faced with a similar situation. Phobias are said to be another one of the causes of panic attacks. Negative memories will forever cause the symptoms of panic attacks unless they are effectively treated or the person somehow forgets them.

 Biological factors are also implicated as one of the causes of panic attacks. These are the behaviors and reactions that take place in the body when an individual is faced with a stressful event. Biological factors might include poor sleep habits, dietary deficiencies and even other medical disorders. Research has shown that biological factors play a great role in panic attacks and even a deficiency of Vitamin B, can lead to the symptoms of the attack. Other medical causes of panic attacks include hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, inner ear problems and of course PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder).

Stimulants such as alcohol and caffeine have also been named as causes of panic attacks. Individuals prone to panic attacks should be careful with the medications as well as foods that they take because they may have a stimulant or other ingredient that precipitates attacks. Hyperventilation syndrome is named another one of the causes of panic attacks because of the restricted air that the individual suffers from.

The most noted causes of panic attacks fall into five categories. Those suffering from fears or phobias, hereditary causes and certain medications that can trigger panic attacks. Daily behaviors such as improper nutrition and the inability to be assertive can also lead to the symptoms of a panic attack. Treatment is very important regardless of the causes of panic attacks, without treatment it can worsen, even leading to further problems.
